Your Network Needs Power. You Need Power Over Your Network.
Utility Power Problems
Although utility power is almost always available, its quality is often
inadequate for sensitive electronics. Inclement weather and downed service lines
can cause short term problems. Long term quality problems are created by aging,
overtaxed utility equipment, and by the changing needs of the devices using the
power.
Your Network Has Power Problems
The distributed architecture of network computing actually makes your system
more susceptible to power quality problems. In even the most conscientiously
installed system, electrical noise and data errors can be transmitted to every
node on the network. With the amount of stored data and work in process on a
network, power problems are intolerable. Your network needs the reliable power
quality and outage protection provided by an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
You Need Power Over Your Network
The nature of networks usually results in challenges to management, too.
Significant physical distance and unstaffed sites are the norm. In a power
outage, you need to verify operational status and control the operation of your
network from a central location. To maximize battery time, you need to manage
your computer load.
UPStation S
UPS: Network Quality Power And Complete Operational Control
Liebert designed the UPStation S family of UPS to meet the demands of network
computers. Available in eight models from 3.5 to 18 kVA, the UPStation S
provides true on-line operation for the highest quality power to your load.
 | Lowest possible input power distortion eliminates electrical noise and
harmonics concerns. |
 | Power conditioning minimizes potentially damaging power transients. |
 | Wide input voltage range tolerates voltage fluctuations and deep brown
outs without using the battery. |
 | Fast, smooth transfer to battery during outages or out-of-tolerance
conditions. |
 | Integrated maintenance bypass capability on 3.5 to 6 kVA units provides
even greater uptime for critical loads. |
Communications
features allow power control of connected network equipment from the front of
the unit, or from a remote computer terminal with SNMP (Simple Network
Management Protocol):
 | Remote control of connected equipment. |
 | Remote monitoring of alarms and status information. |
 | Remote reset of individual network devices. |
 | Password protection ensures security, prevents unauthorized
access to network. |
In addition, UPStation S grows with your site needs. The standard unit is a
compact, easily installed cabinet. By selecting an upgradeable model, you can
expand your power capacity as your network grows. A wide variety of receptacle
options allow you to customize units for your specific loads. Battery capacity
may also be added, providing additional back-up time to match your needs.
Not Just Continuous Power... Continuous Quality Power
UPStation S assures you of reliable, continuous operation. But, it carries
reliability even further...with standard features that provide quality power for
the best possible network operation.
Isolation And Uninterrupted Transfer To Battery
 | The UPStation S Series’ True On-Line Design Means Isolation From Utility
Aberrations, So Your Connected Equipment Receives Conditioned Power. |
 | The High Frequency Isolation Transformer Within The UPStation S Minimizes
Most Noise Present At The Input And Contributes To The Unit’s Small Footprint.
|
 | Transfer To And From Battery Is Uninterrupted, So Your Load Is Never
Vulnerable To UPS-To-Battery Switching Time. |
 | The Wide Input Voltage Range (176-264 Volts) Helps The UPS Tolerate
Utility Fluctuations And Deep Brown-Outs With Fewer Transfers To Battery For
Extended Battery Life. |
 | Below 176 Volts, The UPS Supplements Battery Power With The Utility
Voltage, Thereby Extending Battery Run-Time. |

The 3.5 To 6 kVA Units, Providing Non-Interrupted Power To Your Equipment While
The UPS Is Being Serviced Or The Batteries Replaced.
The Wall-Mountable UPStation S Maintenance Bypass Cabinets Provide Complete
"Wrap-Around" Protection For 8-18 kVA Units.
Programmable Settings
The Menu-Driven LCD Display Lets You Monitor All Aspects Of The UPS, Plus It
Allows You To Program Such Items As Low Battery alarm Set Point, Volume Of
Audible Alarm, Auto Or Manual Restart And Many Others.
The POD TM
enhances the UPStation’s plug-and-play convenience. A variety of
receptacle options and maintenance bypass capability allow the 3.5-6 kVA
UPS to be repaired or upgraded without interrupting power to your critical
load. |
The LCD
display is menu-driven for ease of use and provides complete metering and
programmable control of UPS functions. |
SNMP
Remote monitoring and control of UPStation S and your connected equipment is
simplified with the optional internal SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)
interface. Liebert has taken a leadership role in developing SNMP for
Uninterruptible Power Supply systems. Unlike other UPS systems which "adapt" to
SNMP with an external connection box, UPStation S was designed for SNMP
communications, requiring only the addition of an internal card to be compatible
with your network monitoring system. UPStation S is the only UPS in its category
to offer internal SNMP for greatest reliability, less cost and simple
connectivity.
 | Internal installation saves space. |
 | Supported internally by the UPS. Others use external proxy adapters that
require the use of a UPS receptacle or a separate UPS to maintain SNMP
communication during a utility outage. |
 | Inherently more reliable due to reduced external wiring, and no external
box to mishandle or accidentally shut down. |
 | Ethernet and Token Ring versions available. |
 | This advanced technology allows you to monitor and control all network
devices in a consistent manner, without special proprietary software. |
Network Power Management
You can manage your network power at the local unit display panel, remotely
with SNMP, or remotely with Liebert user-interface software.
Liebert’s unique Power Management feature allows pre-programmed start-up and
shutdown routines for individual loads to remotely turn on and off loads
when selected power conditions occur.
Remote UPStation S systems can communicate through a modem to your central
monitor, or to Liebert Customer Service and Support (CS&S).
With the optional CS&S program, when there is a critical alarm, a service
representative can be immediately dispatched to your site to get your system
back on line as soon as possible.
Management Reporting
Updates of system operation, including battery time remaining, are easily
accessed. An internal Event Log details the number of brown-outs, black-outs,
and battery discharges. The Liebert UPStation family of UPS can play a powerful
role in your network computer operations. UPStation S and UPStation GX (Rackmount
or Tower configuration) work together to produce network-grade, on-line power
protection for all sizes of network equipment, from 700 VA to 18 kVA. And the
communications/control features are compatible for the entire UPStation family,
allowing monitoring and control of all your important computing equipment.
